Am I arrogant enough to call myself an artist?
Yes.
I create.
I create art.
I create words.
I create friction. desire. despair.
I destroy. I destroy dreams. reality.
I destroy myself.
I live in the E. The E of computEr, of E-mail,
of intErnEt, of powEr, of dEspair,
and in the O of egO.
I am the bell that rings - to awaken you from a passionate dream.
I am your mother's voice. I am your father's choice. I am a child's hunger, that was never fed.
I am a divine inspiration. I am Satan.
I am arrogance and cruelty.
I am the voice of silence.
I am the soul of mutiny and the face of calumny.

Biography

How do you begin to tell the tale of a journey that has taken you a lifetime to walk?

My name is Robert.

I am the poor son of a immigrant farmer and his hypochondriac peasant wife. I was born deep in the Spanish barrios of the Latin Meca known as Hudson County, NJ. I went to high school there, learned English there, and am currently still there.

After high school, I ended up attending a college in New York - The School of Visual Arts (SVA), majoring in Illustration and Cartooning, and minoring in Graphic Design. After graduating SVA, I worked at Noticias del Mundo for about a year and a half, as a Graphic Designer. Then I "jumped ship" and went to work at The Village Voice for almost three years. After that II pretended to work for a company that pretended to publish medical journals; now (as of late 2006) I work in Manhattan for a large telecommunications company.

Some Sagittarian Traits

Sagittarians say "Yes!" to life. The Archer believes that good conquers evil, honesty is the best policy, and life is a banquet. This attitude comes easily to those born under this sign because life is good to them. Or is life good to them because of this attitude?

Turquoise is a soft, opaque gemstone.
Its sky blue color is due to the presence of copper. Turquoise was one of the first gems ever used for jewelry.

Hobbies & Interests

I'm an artist and a graphic designer. I spend much of my free time in New York, either hitting the museums and galleries or just roaming the shops.

I also tend to hit local comic, toy, sci-fi or horror conventions, but now, after watching "Trekkies", I am making a serious effort to reduce the "geek factor" of my existence.

Much of my art and my love for art has been inspired by the works of Richard and Wendy Pini (of Elfquest fame), the paintings of Boris Vallejo, the Sci-Fi genre (in general), Japanimation Films (particularly The Record of The Lotus Wars), and, of course, other comic book artists (especially Jim Lee, and George Perez). Some of my favorite comic book titles have been, and still are Elfquest, Teen Titans, Wonder Woman, Witchblade, X-Calibur, and X-Men.

Ambitions

Aside from being a Graphic Designer, I am also a Freelance Illustrator. Ever since my recent involvement with Battleatlantis.com, I've become interested in on-line game development. Samples of my work can be seen in the Portfolio section here on Azodnem. I've also started a company in the hopes of one day publishing my own magazine.

Why a website?

Azodnem.com answers my need for expression, exposure and independence. To my surprise, it's actually evolved into a much larger site than I had first anticipated. It's become far more than just my little nitch where I vent frustrations, display my art, or goof around. It has become a sanctuary, not just for my mind, but for my heart and soul as well.

Feel free to E-mail me, and sign the Guestbook.

Enjoy the ride

I am not a quote or a paraphrase, or a collection of web-pages. Yet somehow and somewhere in Azodnem are bits and pieces of my soul, that when brought together make the bitter broken half of it.

The Voice

I heard a voice when I was young.

It was a man's voice and it called to me.

It came to me on the snowing winds.

And told me to be born.

It called to me again when I was a young boy.

It came to me in the mingled laughter of a playground.

And told me to live.

Once more he called to me when I was a man.

This time, I saw his voice.

It was hidden in the hues of the canvas colored world that surrounded me.

And in those colors, I became engulfed.

I saw the patterns for all creation.

And in those patterns, I heard the secret voices of Love, of Lust and of Hate, of Desire and Remorse, of Tomorrow and Tonight, of Forever and of Nevermore.

And their voices called to me, and sang to me a symphony of their malady - so that all I saw was blasphemy and all I knew was oblivion.

The swirls of their fevered minds embraced me and made hell's fire upon me.

And in my final moment, before my eyes fell closed, I heard the first voice for the last time.

And my soul's dark lover sang a sinner's rhyme in my ear...

Follow me into darkness.

Follow me into despair.

Follow me into heaven.

and let all the angels of thee beware.
