The Lands of Mathien
The following list is a detailed description of the cities, neighboring nations, and points of interest that compromise The Lands of Mathien.

Avante
Human trading settlement in the desert, and along with D'voronai, believed to be one of the last outposts of civilization before hitting the vast desert wastelands.

Chandrelin (Ruins of)
The tragic and haunted remains of a great High Elven city lies deep beneath the ground in an enormous cavern, safe from treasure-hungry bandits and hidden away from all memory.

D'Voro
Remains of an ancient Dwarven civilization deep within Mt. Thundertop. It had survived and flourished for thousands of years, using the dorment volcano's fire as an energy source. Most of the city was destroyed during an unexpected and uncontrollable eruption. The few survivors abandoned the ruins and founded two other nations:

D'Voronai
"The Hand of D'Voro" - The first of the two Dwarven nations founded after the horrific destruction of D'voro. It has been rumored that secret caravans of Dwarves and supplies have been seen leaving D'voronai at night and heading deep into the wastelands.

D'Vorovoi
"The Heart of D'Voro" - The second of the two Dwarven nations founded after the horrific destruction of D'voro. From its battlements, the still-smoldering ruins of D'voro can be seen in the distance. It was founded with the hopes of eventually funding an expedition into the ruins of their ancient capital.

Editon
Human farming community under the direct governorship of Nevel.

Koven
Druid community of Belenus. From its citizantry have risen many of the champions of The Spiderthorne Woods.

Nevel
Capital city of the Human race. Center of commerce, and education. Center of operations for The Lords of Valor (Fighter's Guild), and the Daughters of Seiaden (Mage's Guild). It is rumored that an influential thieve's guild is rising to power in the city's steamy underground.

Rheinfall
Peaceful community on the outskirts of the kingdom.

Sandlewood
Gnomish settlement. Its presence is mostly unkown of by the local humans... although there are rumors of faeries and pixies haunting the lower woods.

Saranya
Wood-Elven fort and outpost. Often a stopping point for travelers making their way through The Spiderthorne Woods.

Shian
The greatest city in the Grey Elven nation. Self-proclaimed guardians and lords of The Spiderthorne Woods.

Token
Small and reclusive Half-Elven community.

Whitekeep
Half-Elven community, founded with the intent of proving that Half-Elves are a species unto themselves.

Points of Interest

Maiden's Pass
The last green and fertile patch of land before entering the desert. Only known location of the Whitehell flower whose petals are believed to be able to cure vampirism and lycanthropy.

The Memory Stone
Large stone monument containing the inscribed names of all the druids of Koven who have fallen in defense of The Spiderthorne Woods. Only two non-druids defenders of nature have had their names inscribed upon the stone; Mathien, himself, and the current Archdruidess' daughter.

Old Mathien's Castle
Original location of the land's capital. Now only the sinking ruins of the castle remain.

Secret Drow Temple
Not all the Drow are evil... or are they? A secretive and reclusive band of Drow have escaped the Underdark and have settled in the remains of an old abandoned temple.

Spiderthorne's Tower
The home of the famous Half-Elven Wizard who once helped clear the forest that now bears his name. The tower is warded by powerful magic and cannot be casually entered.

Temple of the Four
Not truly a temple, but rather a sacred spot for the druids of the land. The remains of four statues mark the area.

The Wanderer
A strange and beautiful magical inn. No weapons are allowed within its walls. The food and ale have never run out. It is always warm, and hospitality is never lacking.

TSR's Dungeons & Dragons Core Rules CD-Rom
The map displayed to the left was created using TSR's Dungeons & Dragons Core Rules CD-Rom.

Although, I rarely provide "reviews" for the product links I've placed on Azodnem, I felt that I should say at least a little something for this one. So... here's a little something: The toolset really is extensive, and the map-making feature has been incredibley useful in almost all the campaigns I have run.

TSR also released an expansion, which updated many of the features of the original.

Other Useful DM Tools
The third edition player's handbook also contains a useful character creation demo CD. Although, I have been unablle to install it with Windows XP.
