There are many
ways one can participate in a role-playing game (RPGs);
as the pen and paper "boardless boardgame", through
e-mail or online forums (such as Yahoo! or MSN), through
computer games, or as Live Action Roleplaying (LARPs).
In Live
Action Roleplaying, players take on the physical roles,
identities and actions of the characters they have created.

The
Birth of Scarlet Sanctuary
In early 1997 Mabelyn
Arteaga, and the rest of the talented staff of Scarlet
Sanctuary transformed and elevated
the LARP experience into a live-action
vampire theater extravaganza. The two flyers displayed below where used
as part of the invitations for two seperate sessions. Sadly, Scarlet
Sanctuary has been inactive for
several years, but the legacy of its sessions lives on still in the
memory of many an immortal.
This
section of Gamer Zone contains the macably detailed and intimate character
journals of a one Dr. Johnathon Jacobz, a brilliant psychotherapist
with certain "Malkavian" tendencies. My first introduction
to Live Action Roleplaying (LARPs) came in 1997, from my involvement
with Scarlet Sanctuary, a live-action vampire theater company, created
and organized by Mabelyn
Arteaga.
The business card featured
above was created as a character prop, to distribute at the sessions
I attended.
The e-mail account displayed on the card, is no longer active.
