Game
Introduction:
As a wedding gift to Damian and Evan, I came out of the DM'ing closet
to host a game for our very RPG-hungry travelers.
Campaign
Introduction:
Last night you were elsewhere. The sweet
fragrance of lavender incense and roses tease your senses as you drift
between dreams. Your head rests upon the lushest pillows you have ever
known. Rich wine colored curtains line the enormous windows of the inn’s
room, and dance with each breeze that sways in. The smell of freshly baked
bread mystically mingles with the distant ballads from the bard downstairs.
You are safe. No evil can reach or harm you here, yet your heart feels
a strange heavy sadness that you can’t explain. Last night you were
elsewhere. Your eyelids flitter awake, and reality is sobering. Whatever
luxury this room once possessed, has long since gone. Last night you were
elsewhere. The rich wine of the curtains has faded into torn and tattered
greys. The lush pillows and sheets are thin and threadbare. A layer of
dust covers everything in the room, except for the bed, and your clothes
and equipment which have been neatly arranged on the dresser across from
you. A tasseled metal key hangs on a black ribbon from the doorknob. Last
night you were elsewhere.

Session Synopsis:
Our players have awoken to find themselves in the remains of an abandoned
Inn somewhere on a forgotten continent surrounded by an impenetrable mist.
After brief introductions, they begin to explore the rest of the seemingly
"aware" and obviously magical Inn. In one of the other guestrooms,
they find the body of a Dark Elven woman, who died alone in agony, clutching
a key and a note...
"We have failed. We lost
Keridian somewhere in the woods. Vargas fell outside the Old Mathian's
Castle Ruins. We couldn't even find his body. After leaving the Shrine,
Garreth and I headed towards Rheinfall as quickly as we could, but the
corruption that was sweeping the Spiderthorn reached it first! Has evil
had its vengenance? Has it truly taken over every inch of these lands?
We ran towards the Inn for sanctuary, but Garreth took a mortal blow meant
for me. Without my spellbook there was little I could do to help him.
I am wounded, and barely made it inside myself. I will die in this place.
My name is Nadja Ta'Kore, and I will not be forgotten!"
As they begin to cautiously venture
outside, they discover that the village the Inn overlooks is now overrun
with undead versions of its former citizens. After dispatching the remains
of the undead druid, Garreth (see above note), our adventurers
recover a map of the island with the location of a Shrine clearly marked
to the South.
